Identify the wound material
Start with the cable, wire, rope or other material to be packed. Supply its outside diameter, length and total weight, together with any winding instructions from the material manufacturer. The material specification is the starting point for reel design.
Provide the flange and barrel requirements
The flange is the outer disc and the barrel is the central winding surface. Share the required outside flange diameter and barrel diameter if already specified. Include shaft or centre-hole requirements and any handling limits.
Confirm the usable width
The usable width between the flanges is often called the traverse. State the available or required width and distinguish it from the complete outside reel width. Include any restrictions imposed by the winding machine or transport arrangement.
Check bending and handling constraints
Obtain the applicable bending and winding limits from the cable manufacturer rather than selecting a barrel from cable diameter alone. Also identify lifting arrangements, expected reuse, storage conditions and how the reel will be transported.
Prepare the reel enquiry
Include material diameter, length, weight, flange diameter, barrel diameter, usable traverse, shaft-hole requirement and quantity. Add the delivery city in Pakistan and date. Final material thickness and construction should be confirmed around the complete requirement.
