Describe The Load Distribution
Record the complete load weight, footprint and contact pattern. Evenly packed cartons differ from machinery resting on several small feet. Include any overhang, concentrated contact points or layers that change how the load reaches the deck. A useful drawing shows both the goods and the supports beneath the pallet.
Separate The Three Support Situations

Maximum working-load assessment depends on a known payload and handling environment. Confirm suitability for the actual support condition; do not reuse a capacity stated for a different condition.
Check The Selected Model And Condition
For rackable wooden pallets or rackable plastic pallets, provide the rack arrangement before selecting the design. A rackable product name does not specify the beam span or a universal capacity.
Inspect the pallet condition as well as its original design. Damaged boards, loose fasteners or cracked components need attention before handling. Include condition and repair requirements in a used pallet or reconditioned pallet enquiry.
Ask For The Agreed Specification
Request the dimensions, construction, selected material and confirmed support conditions in the order brief. Ask what evidence applies to the selected design when a load rating is required. Agree the handling instructions and inspection needs with the people who operate the equipment.
